Matt O'Sullivan
Assistant Coach
Matt O'Sullivan is beginning his second year as assistant men's soccer coach for the Hilltoppers.
O'Sullivan comes to the Hilltop after spending three seasons as part of the University of the Incarnate Word coaching staff. His first two years, O'Sullivan was the graduate assistant coach and last season as an assistant coach. While at Incarnate Word, he helped lead the Cardinals to back-to-back Heartland Conference Championships in 2007 and 2008. The squad also advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2008.
As a player, O'Sullivan lettered three seasons at Calif. State-Bakersfield. In his three seasons he appeared in 57 matches, scoring 14 goals. He helped lead the team to the second round of the NCAA Playoffs his junior season. He was a first-team selection in the California Collegiate Conference.
He also played semi-professionally for the Bakersfield Brigade in the USL Premier Development League from 2004-08.
O'Sullivan earned his bachelors degree in kinesiology and exercise science at Calif. State Bakersfield in 2007 and his masters of Arts and Administration in Business in 2009.
A native of Preston, England, he attended Tulketh High School where he played soccer, tennis and cricket.
He resides in San Marcos with his wife, Taylar.
